Building My Own Dive Watch with DIY Watch Club – A Personal Touch

There’s something special about making something with your own hands. When you build it yourself, you appreciate it more—it’s not just another piece of gear; it’s your creation. That’s exactly why I keep coming back to DIY Watch Club (DWC). This is the second watch I’ve built from their kits, and once again, they’ve absolutely delivered.

The Watch – A Skeletonized Diver with Serious Style

This time, I went for their 40mm Gun Silver Wave Skeleton Dive Watch Kit—a serious bit of kit with a Seiko NH72 movement, an eye-catching skeleton dial, and a rugged black nylon seatbelt strap. A perfect mix of function and flair, wrapped up in a well-designed package, it is an homage to a Rolex really.

The assembly process was just as satisfying as my first build, but this time, DWC made it even smoother by sending me a specialized tool for installing the second hand—an absolute game-changer. Anyone who’s ever tried fitting a second hand knows the struggle, and this little tool made the job so much easier.

A Custom Touch – The EDC Cooperative Rotor

But here’s where DIY Watch Club really went above and beyond…

After I had let them know which watch I was having, the shipping label had already been created, In general conversation, I asked about custom faces… this watch can’t have a custom one, it’s a skeleton after all… anyway, they said that they can make custom rotors for the rear… and before I knew it… well… They had created a custom rotor featuring the EDCCooperative logo. Seeing that personal touch on the movement was incredible—something truly unique to this build. It’s details like this that turn a project into something more than just a watch; it becomes your watch, with a story behind it.

Who Are DIY Watch Kits For?

Whether you’re a watch enthusiast, a hands-on DIYer, or just someone who loves a challenge, these kits are perfect for you. If you’ve ever been curious about how watches work, assembling one yourself is the best way to learn. The kits come with all the tools you need, plus step-by-step video instructions, so even if you’re a total beginner, you can build a watch with confidence. And if you’re already into watches? There’s nothing cooler than wearing one you built yourself, by your own hands.

Why Build Your Own Watch?

There’s a real joy in wearing something you’ve built. You know every component, and exactly how it all came together. The process isn’t just fun, it gives you a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind watchmaking. And the end result? An amazing skeletonized diver that’s as much a conversation starter as it is a reliable timepiece.

Massive thanks to DIY Watch Club for not only delivering another fantastic kit but for adding those thoughtful extras that made this build even more special. If you’ve ever thought about building your own watch, trust me, it’s 100% worth it.
