EDC Cooperative Introduces the Victorinox 2025 Alox Limited Edition Series
The EDC Cooperative is primarily all about everyday carry gear, bringing together enthusiasts who appreciate high quality tools, gadgets and gismos that blend form and function. Since its inception, the EDCCooperative has been a hub for collectors... curators, adventurers, and those who simply love well... gear. This year, we’re excited to introduce the latest offering from Victorinox: the 2025 Alox Limited Edition Series. Of course, we all know that I am not a SAK collector so I just fall in to the curator sort of bracket.
Not a collector...
Victorinox Alox Limited Edition 2025: The Stone Red Collection
For over a decade, Victorinox has released a special Alox Limited Edition series, and 2025 marks its eleventh instalment. This year’s edition is all about “Stone Red”, a bold yet grounded colour inspired by the resilience and balance of nature. The anodized aluminium scales not only look great but also offer durability and corrosion resistance.
Originally, the line up in these series' was the Pioneer, Cadet and the Classic SD, but, over time Victorinox switched things up a bit. Now, the line-up includes:
• Pioneer X (which replaced the regular Pioneer)
• Evoke (which replaced the Cadet in 2023)
• Classic SD (the only one that remained the same)
Each year, Victorinox picks a new colour, and once they've gone, they've gone.
The changes have been a bit controversial among the hard core Victorinox fans, especially when they replaced the Cadet with the Evoke in 2023.
The Cadet was a fan favourite because of its slim profile and practical toolset, and a lot of collectors were disappointed to see it go. The Evoke is quite different; it’s a larger, single-blade folding knife with a thumb hole for one-handed opening. While some people like the modern touch, others feel it doesn’t fit the spirit of the Alox series, which was traditionally more about compact multi-tools... What do you think on that? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.
The switch from the Pioneer to the Pioneer X was a little less controversial since it’s essentially the same knife but with an extra layer, being the scissors, which many people actually prefer... that being said, I know that it did still anger some people. I personally like the addition of the scissors.
In a move that shook the Swiss Army Knife faithful, Victorinox decided to retire the beloved Cadet from the Alox Limited Edition line-up in 2023. Fans, clutching their slim, serrated filed treasures, watched in shock as the Evoke, a modern, onehanded folder, took its place. Some welcomed the change, appreciating the fresh approach, while others mourned the loss of their pocket friendly classic. Meanwhile, the Pioneer X quietly slipped in, scissors in hand, avoiding most of the drama. Love it or hate it, Victorinox knows how to keep collectors on their toes!
This year’s collection consists of the now 'usual' three models:
Classic SD Alox 2025
A true EDC essential, the Classic SD Alox is compact yet powerful. With just five tools, it covers the basics:
✔ Blade – For quick cutting tasks, the amazon parcels, or, mine gets used the most cutting the tops off oil bottles.
✔ Scissors – A must-have for precision work, or, cutting your nails whilst walking to work across the carpark.
✔ Nail file & screwdriver – Keeping you sharp and ready to poke things… or… file and screw things of course.
✔ Keyring – Perfect for pocket carry and adding it to your keys or putting a lanyard on it.
At just 58mm, it’s the ultimate minimalist companion.
Pioneer X Alox 2025
The Pioneer X adds some muscle to the line-up, boasting nine tools in a robust, full-sized package. Key features include:
✔ Large blade – For those slightly heavier cutting tasks... amazon packages and such.
✔ Scissors – Because sometimes a knife isn’t the best tool… and all Victorinox scissors are soooo good!
✔ Reamer & awl – A favourite for leatherworkers and DIYers. The awl is great at poking holes in things, as you’d expect really.
✔ Can & bottle opener with screwdrivers – Perfect for everyday problem-solving. Having used the can openers, I do like them, and I heard a rumour that if you don’t have a bottle opener, you don’t even EDC..!
At 93mm, it strikes the perfect balance between pocketability and functionality.
Evoke Alox 2025
New to the Alox LE lineup, the Evoke is built for those who need a locking blade for added security. Designed for the outdoors, it features:
✔ Liner lock – Ensuring a secure, one-handed operation
✔ Thumb stud – Quick deployment for fast action
✔ Clip & lanyard hole – Multiple carry options
At 136mm, this is the largest and most rugged of the three, making it a standout choice for serious users. Ive not really got much to say on the evoke other than it’s a tank. I would like a ‘beater’ one so I can use it at camp maybe, but wouldn’t do that with the Limited Edition ones… theyre to remain BNIB and not see the light of day of course.
A Collector’s Must-Have
Each knife in the Victorinox 2025 Alox Limited Edition Series features the year “2025” engraved on the back plate and comes in special packaging, making them a perfect collector’s item, or a gift for a special year. Whether you’re looking for a compact tool, a reliable multitasker, or a rugged outdoor knife, the Alox LE collection has something for everyone.
The EDCCooperative is all about gear that stands the test of time, and this Stone Red trio from Victorinox is a prime example. What do you think of the 2025 Alox line-up? Let us know in the comments! Just to add, I ordered these at the beginning of January and they were delivered a week later, all the way from Switzerland, but… I dint open them until last week when I made the video for Youtube… so they were really living up to their BNIB name.
Also, I'd be interested in seeing what colour you’d like to see in 2026..?
